Hi Leon,
Back from our trip up to the Victorian Highlands near Porepunkah, Bright, Mt Hotham
The enclosed snaps are of our Nissan GU Patrol with new Chev 6.5L V8 IC Turbo Diesel pulling our Trakmaster Nullarbor off road van.
Combined weight of roughly 2.6t + 2.7t = 5.3t
The Patrol is fitted with Koni shocks (that have done 250,000+kms in my 2 Patrols) + King springs + Airbag Man airbags including their “High Pressure Sleeves”.
The addition of the airbags was after advice from Trakmaster who advised to go the airbag route instead of using torsion/sway type van bars (pain to take on/off when you get off road).
We’ve had the Van offroad in Tassie and to Lake Mungo NSW and I have no doubt the airbags have made a huge difference in handling. The van stays straight and true and the Patrol likewise remains as straight as a die and is not jagged all around the track as one might expect on rough outback roads with such weight behind it. We also lower our speed to suit conditions J.
What we also like is that it is a ten second job to deflate the airbags when not under load and just as easy to pump them up when we need to (at the servo or using my ARB compressor).
I did the installation myself as the instructions were easy to follow and I wanted to have a crack at something new.
Anyways we’d thought we’d pass on our comments as happy travelers riding on Airbag Man airbags.
Regards
Phil & Karen L.
