Hi Richard,

My Fiat Ducato motorhome has the usual issues with the suspension which I have read about. After a total failure in attempting a sensible response from Fiat I decided that I should just get on and fix it. This was after a Fiat Dealer wrote on my service report that the suspension was not adequate for the task! Naturally, I forwarded this to Fiat H.Q. hoping for a response. The response I did get was that this dealer then refused to fit the new suspension components – guess he received a ‘burn’ for putting this into print.

My MH is the van body and not the Coach, so the Kings Springs I fitted to the front were the less ‘severe’ of the two options, gaining an additional 2.5 inches in clearance! On the rear, after much info from ‘Airbag Man’ (thanks Richard) I fitted the Air Suspension kit specifically made for the Ducato. Wish I’d done this after the first week of ownership!

Just returned from a trip – Geelong – Adelaide – and have to say that I think this Air Suspension modification has really made the Ducato a great vehicle. I love everything else about it – ease of driving, smoothness, economy and now…no thumps, bangs and teeth loosening crashes when travelling our fantastic highways.

Have to say that as the former GM of a multi franchise vehicle dealership, I am absolutely amazed at Fiat’s total disinterest in this issue, which, if the Forums and Happy Hour chats are any indication, are almost universal.

Hope this is of help. Total cost was about $1400 – I would have paid that from new if I knew then what I know now!

Cheers,
Lindsay W.
